Five Friends

In a tiny town on the banks of the Ohio River,

Good hearted people have been known to make bad decisions,

Mistakes are owned, and consequences are dealt with,

Family are friends and friends are neighbors,

Problems are tackled with grace, compassion, a healthy dose of love and just a sprinkling of pettiness from those who love you best,

And even strangers are just new friends, ’cause they’re bound to be kin to someone you know.

Welcome to Fullerton County

*A Note from the Author*

All characters, places and events about to be mentioned in the coming pages are purely fictional. It’s a place I made up in my head, loosely inspired by experiences and memories, but in no way a chronology of them. It’s just fun. If something sounds too familiar or hits a little too close to home, please know that I didn’t know that… and in true Fullerton fashion, just keep that knowledge to yourself, cause nobody else knows it either.

Fullerton County is my escape to a place that is what I naively expected the world to be like when I grew up. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea for sure, but it is a place that holds echos of my most favorite memories of growing up in a large family in a small Eastern Kentucky town and the kind of place I would create, if I could… and I guess, I sort of can. My only purpose in sharing it with others is that if I crave that kind of escape, maybe others do too. I hope you fall just as in love with my fictional Ellis family as I have. I hope I can convey their personalities and their antics in a way that does them justice in print… I promise, y’all, the people, the place, the love they share… it’s all really cool in my head…

And hey, thanks for stopping! As they say in Fullerton:

Give my love to your folks and you come back whenever ya can. You be careful goin’ home.”
